The University of Georgia's Chapel Bell Tower is being replaced. The UGA Chapel Bell is rung victoriously after every home football victory. The bell was damaged last year and raised questions about the safety of the bell tower. A new tower now awaits to be put in after the old one was removed. The old one dated back to 1913. University officials believed it was no longer sturdy enough to hold the 700-pound bell. While a new tower was being built the bell got refurbished and polished. The whole bell and tower are set to be reassembled on Friday August 15, 2008. A ceremonial first ring of the newly assembled bell will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday.
